Nothing is working

Thread needs solution

I got new crucial ssd with acronis. I have old drive containing only windows 10 with and new drive that is not initialized. I am using uefi boot and gpt partitions on my primary drive. My ssd drive is smaller (500GB) than my original one (1TB). I have about 150GB of data.

When I try to clone under windows it tells me that I need extra 456GB on destination drive.

When I try rescue media it is unable to lock source disk (I did shutdown with shift pressed).

It should not be that horribly complicated. I would not like to resize the partition on my original disk to make disk copy happening.

OEM versions of ATI have restrictions on how they can be used, and this may be contributing to the problems you are having.

First, more information will allow the user community to better assist you in getting the new drive up and running.

Could you please advise the what type of drive the new SSD is - does it connect to a SATA port or an M.2 port (if the latter is it an NVMe drive or a SATA drive). What sort of computer are you using, is it a desktop or notebook?

Is there version or build number for the OEM ATI that you are using?
