Open Acronis Backup file with TrueImage??

Thread needs solution

Hi Guys,

My PC Doctor has done a full backup of my C Drive using Acronis Backup Professional.

It is a .tibx file.

Can I open this and extract directories/files with TrueImage?

Regards & TIA,

Ian

I believe you can. At a minimum, at least with rescue media.

Backwards compatibility list

Update... Maybe not.  Looks like back 12.5 can read True Image backups, but not the other way around. Make a copy of the .tibx (just in case) and try it anyway.

Ian, sorry but your .tibx file was created by Acronis Backup and cannot be opened by Acronis True Image as shown in the compatibility document linked by Bobbo above, this applies to the ATI rescue media too.  You would need a copy of either Acronis Backup or its rescue media to access the contents of the .tibx file.

Hi Guys,

Thank you for your responses.

In a word,. Bummer. ;-)  I will have to go back to him and get it re-done.

OK.  Can Acronis Backup & Acronis TrueImage exist side by side on the one PC without issue?

Regards & TIA,

Ian

Unfortunately, backup 12.5 will not (edited) allow it to be installed on the same system as True image. However, you could have separate rescue media for both that would allow you to recover outside of Windows. Then just use one or the other for your daily backups moving forward. Tru Image is a but more end user friendly though and would be my recommendation if you're going to be doing your own backup and recovery in the future.

Hi Bobbo,

Ummmm.  "Unfortunately, backup 12.5 will now allow...."

Unfortunately or Fortunately??  A little confusing.

I have been using TrueImage however he uses Backup. :-(

I want to get TrueImage reinstalled so my backup regime can resume.

Regards,

Ian

Sorry for the confusion. Typing on a phone.

Unfortunately it will NOT allow both to be installed at the same time. If it detects True Image it will tell you to uninstall first and vice versa.
