Recovery Mode - Navigating Folders

Thread solved

Two Issues:

(1) In "Recovery" mode Acronis allows you to view the files and folders in each Backup. However, hidden folders are not visible and hence cannot be navigated e.g. C:\Users\user\AppData. The AppData folder is in the backup because a search will find it. However, it is still not possible to navigate the folder.

(2) The "Search" feature in "Recovery" mode takes a long, long, time and there seems to be no way to stop it except by leaving "Recovery" mode.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Connor, welcome to these public User Forums.

ATI follows the same rules as Windows Explorer as to what files / folders are shown, so you would need to change your Folder view options for Explorer to be able to see any hidden / system type folders.

Instead of using the ATI GUI Recovery option to explore the folders in your backup image, open the .tib file directly in Explorer by double-clicking on it.  This should be faster.

See KB 63240: Acronis True Image 2020: how to restore files from a backup (Windows) - and scroll down the document to the section showing how to open .tibx or .tib files in Explorer by double-clicking on the files.  This applies to earlier versions too.

In addition to Steve's input on file visibility... the option shown above "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)" will prevent a lot of files from being seen. If I am creating a new file level backup, I will generally turn that option off so that I can actually see all the files on the system to be sure I'm getting what I want backed up.
