Restore to a different disk?

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I am planing to purchase Acronis True Image and have 2 questions as below.

1) At the main page of the site it says 49.99€ per year. When I click the acronis true image button at the main site it says 49.99€ one-time purchase. Which one is true. Is the price of 49.99€ for life time period or annual?

2) Say, my disk collapsed and I have the image by "acronis true image" previously captured and I have replaced my disk with a new one. The question is that, can I restore my acronis image on a different disk (bigger size, different brand, type SATA/IDE etc)?

Thanks for your answers in advance.

Regards,

Hakan, welcome to these public User Forums.

There are different license schemes available for Acronis True Image.

If you buy a Perpetual license, then the cost is paid just once for the lifetime of the product, where this entitles you to updates for that one version of the product.

If you buy a Subscription license, then the cost is paid each year and entitles you to upgrades to new product versions when made available, plus can include an amount of storage in the Acronis Cloud.

The core function of all versions / license types of Acronis True Image is that of providing a method of recovering from any type of disk failure, including doing a 'bare-metal' recovery to a brand new replacement disk.  The main requirement for recovery is that the new disk drive is large enough to hold the size of data held in the backup image, so this can be to a larger or smaller disk drive than the original one provided this requirement is met.

It is unlikely that any new drives will be of the IDE / PATA type unless you are working with a very old computer system that does not support SATA.  It is more likely that you might be replacing an older 'spinning' / mechanical HDD SATA drive with a new solid-state logic SSD drive with no moving parts!
