Restore a differential Acronis 2017 issue...

Thread needs solution

I haven't found an adequate explanation for the problem I'm having.  I've never had the need to restore until now.  I have version 2017 (perpetual license, though it seems an eternity less than 'perpetual').  I routinely delete past differentials, keeping only the last two in the interests of saving space.  So in this instance, I want to restore to the penultimate differential.  It gave me an error (0x00640BEA+0x0064023C+0x000B0080+0x00040011) which, incidentally, is nowhere to be found in the 'knowledge base'.  This error tries to explain that it can't find the S18 differential, the most current, or it believes this differential is corrupted - it doesn't specify.  I, however, want to restore from the S17.  So I moved the S18 to a separate folder, thinking it was confusing things.  However, with only the original associated full backup and the S17 differential in the folder, it is still looking for the S18 diff.  So I tried naively to rename S17 to S18, and it gave me an error that it couldn't locate the S1 diff.

So I'm very concerned.  It seems this software is too squirrely for me.  What am I doing wrong? I hit 'ignore', and it does just that - it ignores the problem, but does not proceed.  It just goes back to the status quo.  In other words, hitting ignore is the same as hitting cancel.  It does nothing.

Thanks.

I do not use differential backups, so I can only add general advice.

You should only delete the differential backups from within ATI, doing so outside ATI can have unpredictable results. Did you delete the differential backups from within ATI.

Have you attempted to validate the backup task? I suspect you may have done so but we need to know if you have done so.

You could try removing the backup from ATI (you select delete, then select remove rather than remove and delete the backup files), then adding it back again. The try validating once again.
