Restoring via partitions is inconvienent

Thread needs solution

I'm restoring a backup that has 4 partitions (100MB, 190G, 500G and 1.3TB). All 4 partitions take up 2TB and I need to restore to a 1TB drive. So I wanted to restore just the 1st 3 partitions which will fit on the 1TB drive. What I found was that I could not  do it in one step. Each time I selected a source and destination partition ATI seemed to think that the full 1TB would be used and would not list the space that should have become unallocated. So I had to do the restore in steps. Each step created the unallocated space and I could then move to the next step.

Is there a better way?

Partition restoration is an advanced feature and is designed to work in the way you describe by design so that it gives the user finite control over the restoration process.
