[Solved] Unable to backup the system : error "Impossible de créer le snapshot de volume".
Hi.
For about 2 weeks, I can't do a system backup.
Acronis says "Impossible de créer le snapshot de volume".
In the Windows Event Viewer, some error messages are related to SQL Server and EBP.
If I stop the SQL Server EBP Service and the SQL Server VSS Writer, the backup is correct.
I'm not sure, but I think that the problem comes right after the last Acronis Update (build 14690).
Can you help me ?

I would also suggest downloading / running the free Acronis VSS Doctor tool and see if that offers to fix any issues being found here?
One further thought here, have you been making changes to the Registry as per the conversation in your other topic about backing up .OST files?

I remember you too :-)
This database is related to EBP "Gestion Commerciale" (https://www.ebp.com/logiciels/devis-facturation/gestion-commerciale/ges…).
I do not remember when I installed Acronis True Image 2019, but it must have been almost 2 months. And the backups worked fine during these 2 months.
I forgot to mention that if I disable this 2 services : SQL Server (EBP) and SQL Server VSS Writer, the system backup is done correctly. I do not have tried with only one of the services disabled.
EBP support did not help me.
Other information, I do not know if there is a report (is it the right word ?), but since I ran VSS Doctor to try to fix the problem of "Unable to create the volume snapshot", the daily data backup does not run no more.
In the Windows Event Viewer, there is a message "The scheduler can not complete the task with the GUID 'D636C177-0D12-4730-9FAE-32F5A45F60C0' because of error 5 (access is denied .). "
The PC is restarted every day.
So, many problems ...
I will read the Acronis guide.

I also forgot: I used the VSS Doctor tool. It's even the first thing I did (following one of your previous help Steve :-).
Here is the result (done today):
I did not change the Registry. The other post is about another PC.

The VSS Doctor reports looks to be Ok to me Stéphane.
since I ran VSS Doctor to try to fix the problem of "Unable to create the volume snapshot", the daily data backup does not run no more.
In the Windows Event Viewer, there is a message "The scheduler can not complete the task with the GUID 'D636C177-0D12-4730-9FAE-32F5A45F60C0' because of error 5 (access is denied .). "
Does the daily backup task run at all or does it not get launched with this issue?
Please download the MVP Log Viewer tool (link below) and use this to check for any logs for this daily task, and if there are none, for the Scheduler 2 log - looking around the time when the event log entry was given or the time when the task was scheduled to run.

For the System backup (weekly backup), I think the backup starts because in Acronis / "Activity" tab, it's mentioned "Echec dû à une erreur : impossible de créer le snapshot de volume".
But sine my first message, the daily backup (data backup), doesn't run at all. Nothing in Acronis / "Activity" tab, only a message "La dernière sauvegarde a échoué", in the general panel.
A important (?) point :
The PC doesn't stop during 5 days. During this 5 days, the external hard disk drive was disconnected. When I came back on Wednesday, I reconnected the hard drive and the same evening, the backup was correctly performed! The PC was turned off Wednesday evening. And Thursday, the daily backup has not started again !
Here is the message in the Microsoft Event Viewer.
"Le planificateur ne peut pas exécuter la tâche avec le GUID 'D636C177-0D12-4730-9FAE-32F5A45F60C0' à cause de l'erreur 5 (L'accès est refusé.)." Source Acronis Scheduler.
Steve, I did not have time to run MVP Log Viewer tool (where is the link ?), I will do that ASAP.

Yesterday, the daily backup was successful ! On thursday, the backup didn't start. No log in the MVP Log Viewer ...
Here is the log for the last system backup (yesterday) that failed with the message "Impossible de créer le snapshot de volume".
This log repeats 6 times with a delay of about 1 minute between each.

Stéphane, the log data doesn't really tell us any more at this point.
Please try looking at the SnapAPI and VSSRequestor logs in the MVP Log Viewer and in particular for a log that covers the period covering when the error is given?

2018 ended well. I think my problem is solved.
I followed the instructions given here (thanks to Renata), https://kb.acronis.com/content/36200#2_3_VSS_writer_errors11, in particular I executed the command "vssadmin list writers", which gave me the following result :

This confirmed a problem with SQL Server.
This time, EBP helped me, and after a complete reinstallation of SQL Server (2008 R2 SP2), the system backup was successful.
Chance or consequence, the data backup was also properly launched last night. To watch so.
