SQL Cloning Software

Thread solved

What software does Acronis sell that would make a workable clone of our SQLDB. It is the backbone of our Microsoft Business Solutions Accounting system(Formally Great Plains). I would like it to be on an external hard drive that could be connected and booted from to a desk top PC. Is this even possible? Thank you.

There is no cloning that I'm aware of for a database. You have to do backup and restores.

If it were me, I'd make backups of the database in MS SQL as frequently as you need them and then replicate copies of those somewhere else with Robocopy or Xcopy so the backups are in more than one place.

I would also take backups of the server OS and disk that houses the original database so that you could do a full OS restore as well, which would contain the database as of that point in time.

Acronis backup 12.5 can handle SQL databases. However, I would still use the SQL backups and then possibly supplement additional Acronis backups of them but also definitely Acronis OS backups.
