Survival Kit - BSOD - winload.efi missing

Thread needs solution

Created a Survival Kit USB external SSD. (ATIH 2020 and ATIH 2021)

Backups were successful.

Went to test boot it and I get a BSOD - it can't find \windows\system32\boot\winload.efi

Not much value in a feature called "Survival Kit" that won't boot itself as advertised.

Anyone else had this problem and solved it, and if so how and TIA.

Best regards,

Tony

Tony, welcome to these public User Forums.

I haven't seen other users reporting this issue here in the forums and not seen it myself.

There is a fairly easy way of resolving the issue if you want to try it.

First, open Windows Disk Management or use a partition tool such as the free MiniTool Partition Wizard program (download a copy of the free MiniTool Partition Wizard software if needed).

Allocate a Windows drive letter to the small 2GB FAT32 partition created by the Survival Kit process on your external drive.

Once you have allocated the drive letter to the FAT32 external partition, you can use the normal Acronis Bootable Rescue media builder tool to rebuild the bootable media in that partition by selecting that drive letter.
