True Image 2019 - Copying of .TIB Files Allowed Without Warning?

I've just finished installing Windows 10 Professional v1909 and True Image 2019 Build 17750.  When I launch True Image 2019 and look at the status of Active Protection it says it is running.  There are no Monitored Processes listed in the "Processes" window.

I have used Active Protection in True Image 2018.  In that version of True Image, when I attempted to copy any .TIB file from its original creation location to another folder using Windows File Explorer I was met with the Active Protection warning "... explorer.exe attempted to copy ..." (or something like that).  I could allow the file to be copied if I wanted.

Is it normal for True Image 2019's Active Protection to allow the copying of .TIB files without warning using Windows File Explorer?

Bill, if ATI 2019 is saying it is active, then it should be so.

Open the ATI GUI and then the AAP page, then look for the area for Managed Processes where it should show whether any processes are Allowed to modify files, and Allowed to modify files and backups.

If you see numbers allocated for these 2 categories of managed processes, then click on the link to Manage processes which will open a page showing the detail of what processes are allowed to do what actions.

On my own Windows 10 system (with ATI 2020) I can see that I have allowed explorer.exe and dllhost.exe to modify files and backups, therefore I don't get challenged by AAP when I want to move, copy or delete such files.

I've done exactly what you suggested, Steve.  No processes are showing up as being managed in either the AAP "Processes" window or the "Manage processes" detail window.  Not dllhost.exe or explorer.exe or any other process.  Any idea why processes aren't showing up?

Can you open Windows Task Manager (right-click on the bottom status bar, select Task Manager).

Check that the AcronisActiveProtectionService is shown as running in the Services page and that anti_ransomware_service.exe is shown as running in the Details page.

Hi Steve.  I just shipped that computer to my friend.  It will be a couple of days before I have a chance to check out your suggestions.  I'll reply after I get them checked out.

O.K., Steve, I've checked out the Acronis Active Protection Service on the new laptop.  It is running.  I also checked on the anti_ransomware_service.exe as you suggested and it, too, is running.  Active Protection still allows me to copy a .TIB file from the directory where it was originally saved to any other directory on any hard drive attached or installed on the laptop.

Currently there is one 250 GB M.2 SSD installed on the motherboard and a Seagate BUP Slim external 2 TB USB drive plugged into the laptop.  The original True Image backups are saved in a folder on the Seagate external USB drive.  I can copy a .TIB file from its original location on the external USB drive to the root of the external drive and no warning is issued by True Image 2019.  I can also copy the same .TIB file to any other folder on the internal 250 GB SSD without any warning being issued by Active Protection.

Did Acronis begin allowing copying of .TIB files to drives on the same computer beginning with True Image 2019?

I just confirmed this on both ATI 2019 and 2020.  Copying is allowed.  Deletion is trapped.  I assume that copying over an existing .tib (or .tibx) file would be trapped because that would effectively involve a deletion.  (I should have checked that.)

It looks like the AAP rules changed while we weren't watching.
