True Image 2019 Won't Recover a Backup

Thread needs solution

I loaded a utility from my motherboard, and Windows 10 keeps crashing now. Windows won't let me uninstall it, so I figured I would just recover a backup that is a couple of days old to be easier. That is a laugh.

I load ATI 2019, highlight the backup in the left column, then click on the recovery tab in the top right box. Then I get a popup saying 'cannot find version 6. You may have moved or deleted it.' If I click on the browse box, I can direct True image to the file, but then I get the popup saying that it cannot find the file, the next time I try to recover it.

The file is still there, as well as all the previous versions, but ATI 2019, can't find them, even though I can direct it to the proper location, both in Windows 10, and using the recovery USB stick. How can I recover it? Thanks.

I am using Acronis True Image 2019, Build 13660.  There is an update available, but I wanted to do the recovery before I updated it.

The can't find version X error normally indicates that you are attempting to perform the recovery from within Windows using the ATI GUI application, where this references the Acronis Database for information on your backup version chain files.

I would strongly recommend using the ATI Rescue Media for any recovery that involves the Windows OS drive.  ATI 2019 build 13660 has an issue that stops the WinPE Rescue Media from working correctly, so if you are able to update to the new build 14110, this includes a fix for that WinPE issue, after which you would need to recreate the Rescue Media on USB or CD/DVD.

The Rescue Media does not use the Acronis Database information, so if you still see the 'can't find version X' errors, this would suggest that there are files actually missing!

Please check your backup drive to verify that you have all the files for your backup chain, that none are missing from the chain, i.e. if you are recovering an incremental backup chain, that you have all the files in sequence, _b1_s1 / s2 / s3 etc with no gaps, and that the initial Full backup is present.

Upgraded to 14110, remade recovery USB, and recovered the backup. Now I hope the rogue motherboard utility was the cause of my random computer crashes and reboots. Thanks Steve Smith

Good to hear that your recovery went well with the new Rescue Media version, so hope the computer crashes etc are now history!
