Trueimage is only marginally reliable

Thread needs solution

I have used various versions of Acronis TrueImage on my Windows computers for years and have always had the same problems with backups to my home network storage.  TrueImage has a hard time finding my network drive and it can spend hours or even days creating a backup or image and then at the end reporting that the backup is a failure.  It also "loses" the location of my files about once a year and so I have to "find" them again so backups can resume.  Perhaps if I used an attached USB drive for my backups it would be more reliable, but backups are what I use my network storage for.  Trueimage doesn't seem to have ever made any real efforts to improve network storage capabilities or any of the other issues I mentioned above (and others I haven't mentioned).  Support has been responsive and I believe genuinely interested in helping, but they have never helped solve any of these problems.  I wish you would remove all the bloated, unnecessary features from the software and go back to doing only backups - and doing it well!  Until then, I will look elsewhere.

Richard, I can only comment here to say that I have not experienced any of the issues that you are describing with my own network storage devices.  My main NAS is a Synology DS215j that is connected directly via ethernet to my broadband cable modem / router.  I also have an older WD MyCloud network drive on the same network.

I have been using both these network storage devices for some years now and without any issues with slow or failed backups or lost locations etc.  I use a mix of wired ethernet connections from desktop computers and wireless connections from laptops, which all work reliably.

I never map any network drives to Windows drive letters on my systems, so all connections are handled via ATI using credentials from the NAS (not matched to any Windows credentials).

My experience mirrors that of Steve Smith; a too have Synology NAS; the only time I had a problem was when I installed a new router and the IP address changed. I now use device name which avoids that issue.
