TrueImageMonitor constantly writing to Tnd log files

Thread solved

Since installing TIH 2019 build 14690 on my Windows 10 Home PC yesterday I noticed that three log files are being written to almost constantly:

C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TndLogs\tnd-date-time-nnn.0

The first entry in the logs identifies the TrueImageMonitor process - one for each of the three logged-on users.

The following messages are repeated every 5 seconds:

[tnd][T] Initialize Tnd API
[tnd][E] Failed to open control device '\\.\Global\TndControl2440': status 2
[tnd][E] Failed to initialize: error 0x2

I assume "Tnd" is "Try & Decide" which I have never used. Do these messages indicate some underlying issue, and if so, how do I fix it?

Alastair, welcome to these public User Forums.

I see the same messages in my TnD logs but see no impact from this logging and the total size of my TndLogs folder is less than 20MB in size.

If you are concerned, then please open a Support Ticket with Acronis to query this activity?

Thanks Steve. You're right, the logs aren't overly large, and it looks like there may be nothing to worry about. I did find a similar topic on this for TIH 2016 although the errors logged were completely different. The fix for that was a registry tweak, but I don't know whether that would still work in TIH 2019. I will go ahead and raise a Support Ticket and post the outcome here.

Thanks for the update Alastair, please do share the outcome of your Support Ticket when known.

Apologies for the belated response, I completely forgot about this! The solution suggested by support was exactly the same as for the similar issue relating to TI 2016 - it worked for TI 2019.
