Two factor authentication

Hi! I'm concerned about security of my private backup data that is hosted on your service. Is there an option to add two-factor authentication for accessing the cloud panel? It's a default option for most online backup providers, and I'm really shocked I can't find such an option with your service.

There is no option for two-factor authentication that I am aware of, and providing you are using the password encryption feature for your backup files, then this should be well protected even if someone were able to access your cloud account.  Only you know the encryption password so there is no record of this held on the Acronis servers and if you forget the password then the files are unrecoverable.

If you are still concerned, then please raise this as a Support Case directly with Acronis Support.

I think this is a must have feature for a data security company like Acronis. Do we have a feature list where the user can vote up for future product roadmap?

Unfortunately there is no voting mechanism for new features. All you can do is use the in-App feedback to make the suggestion that two-factor authentication should be an option. You make in-App feedback - click on Help bottom left corner, then click on "Send Feedback" (envelope icon).

Hello Everyone,

I've added your votes to the existing feature request (internal ID for ref TI-159925). Thank you!

we resell Acronis Cloud product and we need this secuity option.

Thank you, registered your vote!

This lack of feature might force us to migrate away from Acronis because customers are demanding it.... Is this even on the roadmap?  if so, what quarter is it scheduled for?

encryption on backups and a login is not 2fa as some seemed to argue above.... one tech/customer caches a password in a browser or gets phished and someone has access to delete/stop/change backups....

Please let us know the time line for this feature addition.

Hello Thomas,

thank you for your posting! Could you please clarify, what product your customers are using here? Acronis True Image or Acronis Backup 12.5\Acronis Cyber Cloud. Business and home product families have different roadmaps and planned feature set. Since you refer to the end-users, I assume you're using Acronis Backup 12.5\Acronis Cyber Cloud?

Hi!

I'm new to Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office Essentials (bought my licenses today).

In my opinion, it is nowadays a absolute security requirement (and minimum) to have 2FA for any important accounts - and especially for such like these where you can start/stop backup and recovery jobs via Cloud.

As I did not find anything in the account settings on the Acronis web site, I searched via Google and only found this forum thread which is abandoned since more than two years.

Therefore I would like to ask you if there is any progress on the 2FA topic for Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office.
From my point of view, this is not an optional feature anymore but especially for a backup/recovery tool an absolute neccessity.

Thank you

Best regards
Stefan

Stephan, progress (if there is any) on such matters is not reported to users. May I suggest that you use the in-application feedback form to make your views known. Click on help (bottom left of GUI), then select "Send feedback".

There are many types of 2FA, and as many as possible should be available. Use of one time codes via SMS being one of the least secure. Better to use a dedicated authentication application such as those provided by Google and Microsoft.
