Ultra safe off-Internet backup

Thread needs solution

Isn't about time to replace that tired old recover disk crap with a full windows 10 system & Acronis setup on a bootable DVD?  That way I could make an unpaired down Acronis with a reasonable number of tools that I choose to install from a DVD.

The best of all worlds would be to be able

1) install clean full-blown Windows 10 & full-blown Acronis.
2) install my tools of choice.
3) clone that system to a DVD or blueray + software to run it in memory by booting from it.

Of course, if the DVD is not large enough, blueray would be big enough.

If done right, if the system to be cloned ran OK, then the boot disk could have all the same stuff so it would run right.

I'm not sure what you're asking. You can create a winpe or WinRE bootable media and do backups or restores (from cloud or local) with it.

You cannot make a legal full OS of a licensed Microsoft product. Your windows OS is tied to the system it is installed on. Acronis, nor any other business, can legally distribute a full OS.

Full windows does not boot from external media such as USB or DVD either. In an Enterprise license you can make legal windows2go OS that do run off USB but windows enterprise is not available to most home users. The third party tools that can make windows2go drives, are breaking the Microsoft EULA and the people using the resulting Windows2go OS are too.

Pretty sure Acronis doesn't want to get involved with any of that.

Check out the WinRE / WinPE rescue media. That's pretty much what every other competitor is using too.

I understand that windows2go is no longer being developed and there may be issues in trying to set it up - see here.

Considering the number of computers that no longer have CD/DVD readers, another recovery medium would probably be a better choice.

Try the MVP WinPE Builder too (link in Bobbo's signature).  You don't get the the full blown Windows (for the reasons Bobbo mentioned) but you get a very useful Windows plus a usable ATI.
