Unable to restore a full PC backup

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I wanted to recover my PC to restore a full backup. I followed the instructions but am unable to. When I click on "Recover PC", a window pops up saying "Unable to continue the operation that requires a reboot, because a volume encrypted with Bitlocker has been detected. Please use Acronis bootable media". How can I resolve this issue and successfully recover my PC backup? I also attached the image for reference.

Benjamin, welcome to these public User Forums.

The reason why you are seeing this error message is because attempting to recover your full backup image from within Windows will result in a small temporary Linux OS environment being used for that recovery, but Linux has no support for BitLocker!

Assuming that your PC is still operational in order to use the Windows Acronis application, and that you have ATI 2019 as per this forum, then you need to create the 'Simple' version of the Acronis bootable Rescue Media, which will include support for BitLocker along with device support for the hardware in your computer.

If you are attempting to recover to a BitLocker encrypted drive or to recover from a backup image stored on an encrypted drive, then you will need to unlock the drive before you can continue with the operation.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my message. In between the time when I made the post and you replied I actually spoke to customer service to resolve this issue. They took me in a slightly different direction. I actually turned BitLocker off on my (C:) disk and windows had to then decrypt the disk. After this happened, I was able to recover the PC backup on Acronis without that message interrupting the process. It seems like everything is okay with my PC and the restore worked. I'm sure your solution would've worked as well!
