Unbelievably slow back up...
Firstly, a happy, healthy and prosperous new year to you all.
I purchased the 2019 Acronis true image yesterday, when I went to do a incremental update, Acronis couldn’t see the old back ups(.tibs)
The problem arose when it asked me to make a bootable hdd, so I wiped all my data off the external hdd, and started a full back up, that was at 18:30, I just looked and it says it still has another 13 hours and 50 minutes, so in total, that will be over 29 hours!
My hdds satas my c drive is a 2 TB and the receiving had is a 3TB options are max compression
Throughout the years of having Acronis, my back ups have been slow, never as long as this but I have had them late 18 and 19 hours, I just read someone did 1tb onto a ssd in a whopping 10 minutes!.
So is it the hdd to hdd slowing it down, or my options, I’ve used Acronis for many years, but on a very happy note, it has saved my bacon, many times.

Thank you for the New Year greetings - we wish you the same.
If you have used this same 3TB external USB 3 HDD previously without issue, then I would not expect any issues with ATI 2019.
From your description, it sounds that you have taken the option to create a Survival Kit on the 3TB drive, which should be a fairly quick process, but there have been reports of this taking some time for some users!
Please see KB 61738: Acronis True Image 2019: Survival Kit disk partition for backups is limited to 2TB on BIOS-booted systems - for some know limitations with this process.
I would recommend downloading the MVP Log Viewer tool (link in my signature) and checking the backup log to see what messages are being written there for this task?
Hello Steve, thank you for your time in answering my question, i still have another 6 hours to go, when it decides to finish, I’ll take a look at the logs.
i would imagine it will be tomorrow now, when I do.
I have always seem to have slow backups? Would It be better in your opinion to have a cloud back up instead of a HDD back up or, go and buy a SDD to make things quicker or not have the survival kit in place, sorry for all the questions, but I’ve never had a cloud back up and I’ve never had a backup taking so long?
thanks again Steve for your help
best wishes Steve

Steve, I would say that having a cloud backup is an option but should not be your only option as backups to the cloud can also be very slow depending on your internet upload speed.
Personally, I do not normally change the compression setting for my backup tasks, preferring to use the default settings for this rather than trying to achieve the highest compression. This can have an effect on backup speed by virtue of the compression taking extra CPU cycles before any data is then packaged and wrote to the destination disk.
Changing from a standard HDD (spinning disk technology) drive to a fast SSD (pure memory logic) drive should give you an improvement in overall OS operation and lend itself to making faster backups, but there will still be a bottleneck with writing data to a slower external drive.

Hello Steve, thank you for your time on this. I realised my fastest speeds are due to the slowest bus on my computer. I purchased a new 6tb external USB 3.0 HDD. Although the first back up took a timely 2 days 14 hours I just realised that it's due to the hardware on my computer. Although my computer was a high end gaming computer and runs everything fine on high, it is getting on a little now, so I've put it down to the bus cannot handle that amount of data and it's bottle necked. Ì have deleted the first backup and only going to back up C drive now, even that took a day and a half. If I do decide to buy a 2tb SSD, I doubt I get and faster backup due to the bottle neck on the bus. So all in all Steve, I'll have to lump it, but i can still work on the computer while backing up, which is a good thing. Thanks again and I'll put this matter to bed. Best wishes Steve

Hello,
I'm having the same issue.
Version : 11.5
Booting up with Acronis
Cloning a 250 GB SSD to an ext USB3 HD
Result: Very very slow: over 13 hours
Please advise.
Thanks,

Khan, welcome to these public User Forums.
Sorry but you need to raise this issue in the Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 & 11 Forum - given that you are using AB 11.5, not Acronis True Image 2019.

I'm backing up 'My Folders' using ATI 2020 Build 22510 - it says there is 747GB to back up and that it's going to take another 12 days and 22 hours to complete - see screen shot. We are fttp broadband with upload at least 10MBPS - am I doing something wrong??

Peter, welcome to these public User Forums.
Please see webpage 'Upload time calculator' which shows what you should expect your very large upload to take in terms of days & hours. (Estimated 7.5 Days for the total upload).
Your screen image shows a fairly inaccurate estimate from ATI based on your actual minute to minute performance but this should drop down in time as more data is processed.
