Universal Restore - Can't Get Audio to Work [Solved]

Thread needs solution

I've gotten a number of HP EliteDesk 800 G1 PCs in for our organization. They're very nice, and this is the 2nd time that I've tried a universal restore from a TI 2019 backup. The original machines were dissimilar hardware. In both cases I can get the machine up and running but I can't get the audio to work at all, even installing the HP drivers. When I contacted HP they simply advised to install a fresh OS but I don't want to do that. I did verify that a fresh OS allows the audio to work, but for some reason I can't get it to work from an Acronis restore from dissimilar hardware. Any ideas?

I did the very first suggestion, modifying the registry, and it worked! Thanks.

FYI: I don't see how to make it solved or that you were the one that solved it, but thanks again.

Awesome. So glad it's working!!

Although working, the question remains why it happens sometimes. On the handful of HPs I've worked with, the audio is tied to a complete audio application MSI installer. It's nearly impossible to just get the .inf drivers to install, and audio to work, if the audio management package isn't installed entirely. But, if that's been done before the backup image or clone was completed, I can't explain why that registry key is needing to be modified afterwards at times. It's rare, but odd.

I'd suggest submitting feedback in the app with a reference to this forum thread.
