Using MVP Tools with ATI 2019 Home - Perpetual

Thread needs solution

Ok, so I am spoiled after 2 years using the MVP tools to create my WinPE bootable rescue media.  Now ATI 2019 is just released, so I must ask if the existing MVP will function with V2019, or testing is being done, what is planned??

Reading the Release Note for 2019 Build 13360 I read: (Under know issues...) that there are problems with the media builder not exiting after use) and boot media built on uefi x64 not working on a uefi x86 system...and perhaps other permutations not working...

As my experience is that WinPe Rescue Media is many times more reliable than the Linux versions, and further the MVP boot media is really troublefree...Oh why is ATI always released with important known bugs?  NOTHING is more important than stable Bootable Rescue Media...

Can't answer your why question but, the MVP Recovery Media should work fine for you as it is only dependent on the available WinRE currently on your machine or a WinPE ADK installed on your machine.  Either one can run the application.

Additionally, the MVP tool can build UEFI x86 (32 bit) media so this will help those whom have 32 bit installs.

The exiting issue is that the Recovery Media, either WinPE/RE or Linux versions, do not have shutdown options for exiting the TI app and the boot media.  I expect those to be corrected in an upcoming update.  In the meantime users can follow the routines below:

WinPE/RE:

  • Close the TI application window by clicking on the X in the top right hand corner as you would any open window
  • In the command Prompt window that remains type wpeutil shutdown.  This will shutdown the PC and allow boot media removal from the PC and/or internal drive removal or attachment.

Linux:

  • Press Ctrl+Alt+F2 which will shutdown the TI application and the boot media

This is interesting, it may explain the crash I had last week using the beta when attempting to create a survival kit, which as part of the process creates a ATI recovery partition on a USB HDD. But maybe it does not, as in my case the crash came when trying to create the partition, not when creating the recovery environment itself.

Ian,

I would think our crash was not related to this.  I posted a reply to the Beat Forum about issues with crashes, slowdowns, etc.  Go have a look when you get the chance.

The MVP Tool will work with TI 2019.
