Veracrypt and TI Backup TIBS?
I have a WD - easystore 14TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive that I want to encrypt with Veracrypt. Newbie Veracrypt user. If I unlock the Veracrypted 14TB drive while in windows and then boot the TI program from the flash drive my intention would be to image a 4TB external USB drive onto the 14TB External drive that has Veracrypt on it ostensibly previously unlocked (decrypted?) in windows. Will this drive remain unlocked after I have booted from the TI media and if not how do I go about writing to a Veracrypt drive using TI? Thanks.

Steve Smith wrote:Dan, the normal behaviour of encrypted drives is that unlocking these in Windows is only true while remaining in Windows and the drive would be locked when exiting Windows to reboot into the Acronis Rescue Media.
You would need to download a copy of the Veracrypt Portable app and have this available from your Rescue Media USB drive, then use the correct version to unlock your encrypted drive (32-bit or 64-bit to match the rescue media version).
The MVP Custom PE Builder tool allows you to add extras such as Veracrypt to use in the rescue environment.
Thanks for the quick response. I did a quick search for MVP Custom PE Builder and came up with a vague result (see below) Would you happen to know a direct link to the MVP Custom PE Builder tool as well as maybe a guide for dummies : ) on how to do what you recommend that is how to incorporate Veracrypt into the MVP Custom PE Builder. Thanks so much.

Dan, look at my signature below for the link to the Acronis Community Tools KB where the MVP Custom PE Builder tool is found.
As for using it, just unzip the tool to the root of your drive, then run the main .exe as Administrator (it is a standlone tool with no install needed).
Take the option to build the media from your Windows Recovery Environment then just follow the prompts.
To add in any extra tools such as Veracrypt, download the portable version then run the VeraCryptPortable_1.24_Update_7.paf.exe which will create a VeracryptPortable folder that needs to be put in the Extra\x64 folder (if creating 64-bit rescue media) as per example below from my laptop.
The tool will take care of integrating any of the Extras found in the folder into the rescue media, then you can open the Extras folder within the WinPE environment using the menu options provided.
