5 hours remaining in cloning process

Thread needs solution

Something seems very wrong with the cloning process. Usually it takes 30 to 45 minutes to clone a 1 TB HDD. This time it's telling me 5 hours. It's been 25 minutes since I started the cloning process. Should I unplug the computer and restart?

Also, on another occasion True Image told me that a reboot would be required during the cloning process. That last time that message appeared, True Image wiped out my C drive, so I cancelled the clone. So, some strange things have been happening.

Hello!

Cloning times can vary based on factors like the speed of the hard drives involved, the amount of data being transferred, and the efficiency of the cloning software. The initial estimate may not always be accurate. Let the process continue for a while to see if the estimated time decreases or stabilizes.

Review the Acronis True Image interface for any error messages or warnings. If there are issues, the software might provide information on what went wrong. Understanding the error can help in deciding the next steps.

Plus before attempting any further actions, ensure that you have a backup of your important data. If anything goes wrong during the cloning process or subsequent troubleshooting, having a backup will prevent potential data loss.

Best regards.

One possibility is that you accidentally selected sector-by-sector which takes much longer. If the source disk is "damaged" the program can automatically change the setting to sector-by-sector.
