Acronis 2018 recovery disc - Black screen blinking cursor

Thread needs solution

Good afternoon

After a recent nightmare with Windows 10 update I decided to install acronis and create a backup of stock windows. In order to try to create a recovery test to see if the recovery disc works all I get is a black screen with a cursor blinking in the corner..

I need this to work and it is not..

Please help

David, welcome to these public User Forums.

What type of Acronis Rescue Media have you created?

For the ATI 2018 & later version rescue media, there are 3 different versions available:
Simple:  created based on your Windows Recovery Environment for WinPE media.
Advanced: created based on Windows ADK (or AIK for earlier OS versions) - WinPE media.
Advanced: created based on a small Linux distro OS (BusyBox) or created from the .ISO CD image download from your Acronis Account page.

How does your computer boot from the BIOS into Windows?

See KB 59877: Acronis True Image: how to distinguish between UEFI and Legacy BIOS boot modes of Acronis Bootable Media

I would recommend creating the Windows PE version of the Acronis Rescue Media as described in the KB documents below.  I would expect this to be more reliable.
