ACRONIS 2020 Creates Drive letter (empty)

Thread needs solution

When installing ACRONIS 2020 it creates a Drive called ACRONIS HM (X:) where X is a drive letter.

This drive is empty. My backups are scheduled on an External Drive and works fine. I cannot see what the benefit of this ACRONIS HM drive is. I now have it showing twice with different drive letters.

Is it necessary before I try and delete them?

Will i be able to delete them?

Michael, the Acronis HM partition is the Acronis Survival Kit partition at the start of your external backup storage drive, it is intended that you could boot from that ASK partition if you need to do a future recovery.

The option to create a Survival Kit is only offered when you are creating a new Disks & Partitions (or Entire PC) type backup task and are setting the Destination for the task to a suitable external USB drive that can be used for this purpose.
See KB 61639: Acronis True Image: how to create Acronis Survival Kit - for more information on the process.
