Acronis 2020 update pushed on May 2021 may have a bug

Thread needs solution

I got a notification on May 18, 2021 about a latest update to Acronis 2020 and I installed it in one of my 3 PC's that I have it. Today (May 22, 2021) I started to notice that when I wanted to load the backup files to validate them I was getting an error:

"Failed to add the backup to the backup list. The backup may be locked or corrupted. Also make sure the folder contains the last volume of the backup and does not contain a renamed copy of the same backup"

I noticed that my other PC that I never updated (at least not recently) it was working fine, it would open the backup images and validate them ok. The backup files are in a shared network drive so I am opening the same file on both computers. All my backup are single files and I do not store multiple versions, always create one single file every time I backup

I contacted tech support chat May 22 at around 3:00 PM EST and the operator open a Ticket for me and gave me the link to the previous build:

h t t p s: ## dl.acronis.com#s#AcronisTrueImage2020_25700.exe (Inserted spaces and replaced  slashes with # because I cant paste links - May be the moderator can provide a correct link)

So I downloaded, Uninstalled and re-installed Acronis and now everything is running fine, files open and are being validated properly

There may be something in the last update pushed on May when you try to load a backup and validte

There is definitely something wrong with the last update to Acronis 2020 version just released in May 2021.

Jorge, I have been using the latest (final?) build 38530 for ATI 2020 for some time without seeing any issues as you have described.

The links to download any of these builds is available in your Acronis Account pages where you can normally find the latest build along with 1 or 2 previous builds on the Download page.

You can also check the Acronis Product Updates page which has download links.
