Acronis is taking up 80 to 100 % of my CPU

Thread needs solution

MY True Image 2020 is running in TASK mgr shows that it is using 80 to 100 % of the CPU and 70 % memory.

Computer runs so slow I can not even type on it. How can this be fixed or stopped.???

There are no current backups running that I can tell and I have turned off the active protection but it did not seem to help.

Thank you

S. Cline, welcome to these public User Forums.

The most likely cause of the performance issues you are describing are likely to be a conflict between Acronis and other installed software such as antivirus, malware protection etc.

See the following KB documents related to this aspect:

KB 36429: Acronis Software: exclude program folders and executables from antivirus and other security programs

KB 46430: Acronis Software: Making Acronis Products Compatible with Antivirus Software

If your PC is really impacted then you will probably need to force a Windows restart then look at the above.

The only time I have seen anything similar was with a NUC that only had 4GB of ram and 64GB eMMC storage for the system drive; I also had compression set to Max rather than Normal  and performance set at Normal rather than Low. The NUC only had a Celeron N4020 CPU. I was also backing up to a 500GB micro SD card. I was also using ACPHO 2023 beta rather than ATI 2020 which may be a significant difference.

The settings for the backup and the specification of the devices being used can have an impact.
