Acronis TI 2020 Cloud cleanup issue

Thread needs solution

Hello, Cloud is very deceptive, I've often to spend time to manage it, I'm not sure I will renew my cloud subscription. I've 2 backup of 2 chains of 5 increment for a total size of around 800Gb. I use local backup + replication on weekly basis My third chain is in progress and will not fit in the cloud, my 1Tb cloud is near to be full I've reconfigure my local to keep only 1 chain + current chain and I try to clean up my cloud. I try with the gear on the right of the backup, I tried both option - remove older than 10 days - keep only 1 chain but none of then clean anything I've also tried by local acronis using cleanup menu to delete older version +replicate It reduce to local tibx to 12kb, but it doesnt clean the cloud aven after the next backup. The only solution seems to be to delete the entire backup on the cloud, meaning during few ours I havent anymore a remote backup, whats a pity.

Laurent, the issue you describe is the limitation of using the new ATI 2020 Replication feature!

Replication will copy all the files for your backup task and continue doing so each time the backup creates new files, including new Full backups etc.

This is where doing a direct backup to the Cloud wins every time.  With a Cloud backup the full data is only ever uploaded to the Cloud once when the task is created, after which, only changed blocks of data are uploaded.  There will never be another Full backup done!

For this reason alone, after testing Replication, I binned it and went back to just using the normal Cloud backup along with my local backups to external and network drives.

Replication is only viable for relatively small backups and where you have fast internet connection (it is viable for me to replicate my system partition as I have a 95/35 Mbps connection. I would not consider it with an upload speed less than 10 Mbps.

Ian

I'm using replication and have 10 Mbps upload speed. I have selected incremental only backups. So far everything is working fine. Replica stores the last 20 versions of my backup in the Cloud. I manually cleanup the incremental versions of my local backup without having to create a full backup. This seems to be a real advantage of the .tibx file format.

Technogod,

How large are your backups?  Are these file/folder or full disk backups?
