Acronis True Image 2020 - Abort with Error 0xb042f: The destination is not available

Thread solved

I use True Image on a Windows 10 installation. At night, an automatic backup usually runs on a hard drive connected via PCI. This used to be an SSD, which always worked well. Since the capacity of the hard disk was no longer sufficient, I replaced the SSD with a 2.5" HDD in the same PVI slot. Unfortunately, the programme now aborts with "Error 0xb042f: The destination is not available." It is interesting that a backup file is created anyway. At some point, the programme must no longer be able to find the hard drive. Does anyone know this phenomenon and has a tip or does anyone have an idea in general? Thank you for any feedback.

Tom, each drive has a unique GUID (partition identifier) and after changing the SSD to a HDD, you need to reselect the Destination for your backup task so that Acronis knows that is now the drive you want to backup to.

Thanks for your quick reply, Steve! I created a new backup job with all settings (re-selevct of the destination e.g.) new and after that I had the same problem.

Tom, are you able to connect that 2.5" HDD via a USB to SATA connector cable and try it that way?

I work mainly on a laptop and have used a StarTech.com USB 3.1 to 2.5" SATA Hard Drive Adapter - USB 3.1 Gen 2 10Gbps with UASP External HDD/SSD Storage Converter (USB312SAT3CB) with a variety of 2.5" HDD and SSD drives.

Tom,

I suggest you try the solution found HERE

At the end, it works! Next morning I got the information, that the task was done succesful. I guess it needed a new start of the system. The hint with the creation of a new backup job - because of the new ID of the HDD - was the right. Thanks for that! Thanks as well for all other comments.
