Acronis True Image 2020 with Windows 10 Build 2004 Lockup

Thread needs solution

My Windows 10 desktop was just patched to the lasted build of 2004.  My scheduled backups have been running flawlessly for months and right after this build my scheduled backups kickoff stop at 0% and the desktop is pretty much useless.  Apps wont load and task manager takes for ever to come up.

My only solution is to reboot and when the PC comes back up the scheduled task kicks off again and runs to completion.

Any one else having a similar issue?

Brent, welcome to these public User Forums.

If the only change between when your backups were running fine and when they stopped doing so, is the upgrade to Windows 10 #2004, then that suggests something broke or got damaged etc.

The first thing I would suggest is to disable the Acronis Scheduler 2 Service from starting automatically, which in turn should stop your backup from trying to run.

Next, download the Acronis Scheduler Manager tool (link below) and run this as Administrator (no install needed).  When the command window opens, type the command: task zap  which will remove all scheduled Acronis tasks and allow you to change the Scheduler 2 service back to its normal automatic start setting.

Now, see KB 60915: Acronis True Image: repairing program settings - and do a Repair install of ATI 2020 to ensure that the application is installed correctly.  This will not touch any of your configured backup tasks.

Once the above is done, then open the ATI GUI and reselect the Source & Destination for your backup task, then try to run the task manually.

To put this issue in context, I personally have upgraded all my Windows 10 systems to #2004 and have not seen any issues with ATI 2020, 2021 Beta or 2019 and 2018 that I have in use.  I haven't seen more than just a couple of users coming to the forums telling of any issues since 2004.

Thanks for the help and solution. My problem ended up being a conflict between Malwarebyte 4.1.2.73 and Norton 360.  At the same time my Windows 10 was upgraded so was Malwarebytes evidently.  As soon as I uninstalled Malwarebytes the problem went away.

Brent, thanks for sharing the solution to your issue for others to find.

I have also problem after update windows 10 from 1909 to 2004 and wwhen launch Acronis True Image remain in this state:

So i disable Acronis Scheduler 2 Service and restart computer and now true image when launched open regularly, but when i reselect Acronis Scheduler 2 active the problem re-appear.

So i can follow see KB 60915: Acronis True Image: repairing program settings or better uninstall Acronis True Image and install again ?

Thank

Hispanico

Hispa, before you try doing either a Repair Install or an unistall / reinstall, I would recommend taking a read of the following documents.

KB 36429: Acronis Software: exclude program folders and executables from antivirus and other security programs

KB 46430: Acronis Software: Making Acronis Products Compatible with Antivirus Software

You mentioned in another topic that you too are using BitDefender, so please ensure that ATI is whitelisted to BitDefender, and the reverse for AAP whitelisting BitDefender.

I have upgraded all of my computers to 2004 without any such issues, but I am not using any third-party antivirus (only Defender).

Ok Steve thank, i unistall (also using cleaning tool) and install again with success and seem work, but this morning when i search to open True Image

remain in this situation..."reading the status of backups in progress..".

Also if i close the app and restart true image always arrive here and remain...

I try also task zap but not resolve

Thank

Hispa

Did you follow the guidance from the KB documents about whitelisting the Acronis programs etc?

This ?

https://kb.acronis.com/tag/whitelist

Yes

Its a NIGHTMARE....

As said, I also uninstalled True Image using the CleanupTool program, but now it no longer installs. The installation starts and from the middle is very slow and stops almost at the end and remains there. I uninstall it and try again but the result itself.
Is there a log where you can see where the problem is?

I followww alsi this post

https://forum.acronis.com/forum/acronis-true-image-2020-forum/acronis-true-image-2020-installation-hangs-application-crashes

but nothing

Hispanico

...i come back to windows 10 1909 and ALL come back OK

There is indeed either from windows or from Acronis something to fix

Hispanico

I would like to know what the problem might be, however, as I would like to keep windows updated...so2004.

It is strange in fact if I update to windows 2004 I have the problem of post n. 4 then always from windows 2004 if I try to uninstall it and then install it again, the installation after half is very slow and stops almost at the end and remains there.

Thank

Hispa

Hispa, have you opened a support ticket direct with Acronis for this issue with Win 10 #2004?

I have multiple computers all working fine with this combination of OS and ATI.

Thank Steve but i have Acronis True Image OEM and no support ticket :-(

This is my situations with systeminfo of Acronis

Thank Hispa

Hispa, thanks for the Acronis system report zip file.

The first issue that I see is that you have errors on one of your disk drives (shown in the disks.txt report file within the zip archive).

You should schedule a CHKDSK /F for this 466GB partition.

Please can you clarify what exact version of ATI you have here, i.e. if it is OEM, who provided this version to you?

See KB 2201: Support for OEM Versions of Acronis Products which applies to all OEM versions of ATI supplied with hardware purchases.

Was / is your ATI 2019 version also OEM or is it the full Acronis version?

If it wasn't OEM (from the same vendor) then I can only suggest doing a full uninstall of 2019 before attempting to do a clean install of your OEM ATI 2020.

Ok thank i run CHKDSK /F and now all ok in this disk...

Understand i in my accounti have OEM version from long time and in 2018 from different vendor i buy 2019 and after 2020 so in this moment i have installed on windows 10 1909 version ATI 2020

Continue my test

I install on other disk windowws pro 2004 clean and after install same true image 2020 that i have in other disk system install go fine and no problem at all.

So i donw understand hy in my original system, also uninstall True Image before upgrade to windows 2004 and after regular install and set windows i rebbot, install true imegae 2020 and stuck at 90% of installation...and also with repair no success

There is the way which is the problem during installation or if there are other problems?

Hispanico

The only real suggestion at this point would be to compare the installer & installerui logs found at C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Logs for the new clean Win 10 #2004 system versus the problem Win 10 system where the installer hangs.
