Acronis True Image 2021 "Destination Unavailable" error.

Thread needs solution

First off - Sorry for posting here but my TI 2021 shows "Not Supported" in my account so I have to post here since there also is no TI 2021 forum - A VERY CYNICAL PLOY TO GET ME TO GO FROM PERMANENT LICENSE PRODUCT TO SUBSCRIPTION PRODUCT  (legalized ransomware - which will likely drive me to find a new backup tool provider).

Anyway, TI 2021 on a Win 10 (up to date on Windows updates) reports that the destination (external USB drive) for its weekly backup is unavailable.  When I check the destination drive/folder/file from windows explorer there are no issues.  The event viewer showed a disk access error on the first try of the scheduled update which a run of chkdsk repaired quickly.  Attempts to manually run the backup fail with the same "destination unavailable" error. It appears that TI 2021 has "saved" the disk error from the initial attempt and does not clear it for subsequent attempts.

I have the log file and system reports for the computer in question.  (Of course the file "Upload" button does not work, so.... But I was wondering if there is anything short of a complete uninstall / re-install after deletion of all TI/Acronis registry keys and app data directories/files etc. to get TI 2021 to once again recognize the external drive as "available" and start recording the next iteration in a differential backup.

WMC, there shouldn't be any need to do a complete uninstall / reinstall to solve this issue!

The first suggestions would be to do the following:

First, set the problem backup task as being not scheduled.

Reselect the destination for the task, if needed, first to a different drive, then back to the original drive.

Try running the backup task manually, i.e. clicking on 'Backup now'.

If there are further issues, then collect a new Acronis system report and send me a link to the zip file via a cloud share service such as Dropbox, OneDrive etc in a private message.
