Acronis Try&Decide vs. sandbox?

Thread solved

What is Acronis Try&Decide? What's the difference between Try&Decide and a sandbox-program like Sandboxie (sandboxie-plus.com)?

If Try&Decide can only restore Windows its earlier state, what's the difference between Windows system restore point and Try&Decide?

The most important question: can I open a virus infected file in Try&Decide or can virus spread in Windows?

Which is the best program to open a virus infected file: Try&Decide, Sandboxie or Avast antivirus program's own sandbox (which I don't have, but I can download the trial version).

Arko, I can only suggest reading the ATI 2020 User Guide section on Try&Decide for better information on using this tool when dealing with any malware investigation.

The key difference between using Try&Decide and using a tool such as Sandboxie is the degree of change that is involved in rolling back change.

Try&Decide will involve potentially a lot more data being captured and then either discarded or applied whereas with Sandboxie all changes are immediately discarded when the application session is closed.

Both methods should not allow any unwanted changes to be made permanent.

Windows system restore points do not offer this level of protection from malware because they expect the application to follow normal rules of behaviour!

I cannot comment on similar tools provided by Avast or other application vendors as have no experience with these.

One other approach is to use a virtual machine for such testing, i.e. VirtualBox or VMware so that all changes are isolated to that VM environment and can be undone by replacing the VM disk files with copies made prior to testing.
