Photo editing and video editing applications seem to trigger either a warning or are slowed to a crawl. You would think there would be a data base of safe applications that do not need to be monitored.

Ian

Just now Acronis Active Protection suspected malware when it noted that Google Chrome.exe had modified 9 files on my PC
I whitelisted chrome
I also turned Active Protection OFF

Please let me know when it works to protect instead of just interfering ... OK?

Martin, is there any indication of which files Google Chrome modified on your PC?  To my way of thinking, Chrome shouldn't be modifying any files other than those directly related to itself or its cache?

+ 1 to Steve's comment. Could it be that the Chrome.exe file is not legitimate? Just to be on the safe side I would download the Chrome installer from Google www site and reinstall Chrome.

Replying to Steve ...

"Martin, is there any indication of which files Google Chrome modified on your PC?  To my way of thinking, Chrome shouldn't be modifying any files other than those directly related to itself or its cache?"

Chrome files in the path C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data

In addition, I had my antivirus (eset) scan the Adobe and Chrome executables

Martin, if AAP is flagging up Chrome touching its own files, then I would recommend whitelisting both the Chrome application and the C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data folder path in AAP.

Perhaps just whitelist the folder first and later the exe if still being flagged up.
