Active Protection SSD 95% performance loss!
Hallo zusammen! Hello everybody! Has anyone ever noticed that Active Protection slows SSD disks by 95%? I have with all SSDs I use (Samsung 830, 860, 960, 970, EVO / PRO mixed) a huge loss of speed. Measured with the current version of Magician 6.0.0 on 11 different machines. However, there were similar results in the previous version. So it has nothing to do with it. If you disable Active Protection, the read speed (for example, Samsung 970 PRO 512 GB M.2) is around 290,000 IOPS. With Active Protection enabled, it drops to approximately 15,000 IOPS. In the forum I have not found anything on the subject. Has anyone already noticed the same problem and maybe a solution for it?

This is happening to me too, I have 16GB RAM, a quad-core i7 and a 512GB Samsung 850 Pro SSD, with only around 30TBW on it so not a huge amount of wear.
With active protection on, my 850 is absolutely crippled. At first, I thought it was the AV and FW software, but I have disabled and then uninstalled both my security products and left just left Window Defender/FW running.
When I disabled the Active Protection in True Image 2020 my speeds massively increased, though admittedly not to full speed as when I first installed W10, a lot better than without AP turned on though.
When I turned it back on, both sequential and random speeds went back to being abysmal.
The odd bit, the write speeds come up faster than reading, which is really strange, and I even enabled Rapid Mode which only improves matters slightly.
See pic, both sets of results are with raid mode on, as without it on the speeds are halved again at least, the write speeds, even more. I have run multiple test runs, similar results all the way and I have tested the same drive on a similar laptop, running no security software apart from Windows Defender/Firewall, but not running TI and the average numbers are way higher, Sequential read 538MB/s and write 521MB/s and randoms in the high 80ks, without rapid mode.
You can see these numbers are just abysmal. I do not know what the issue is or whether TI is the direct culprit, but I do know this much, it is not helping matters even if it is not directly responsible.
Frustrating.

Neil, welcome to these public User Forums.
Have you looked at the KB documents in the post above yours in this topic, and have you followed the guidance given in these?
How many Managed Processes are shown in the AAP page of the ATI GUI - again see the post above yours for a screen image of how it should look?

Chris and Neil,
THANK YOU for documenting your issue! I have been going crazy trying to figure out my Samsung EVO 850 SSD drive started to run so poorly. I currently run ATI2021 with Active Protection turned off EXCEPT for Antiransomeware Protection because I have other Antivirus protections enabled that overlap with the Acronis features (many newer in the 2021 version). I just did several tests running SSD benchmarks with Samsung Magician with this Antiransomeware Protection ON vs. OFF and noted a HUGE degradation in Read IOPS, in particular (see attached file).
Acronis support,
I will not be seeking to further investigate this issue as I will be disabling all ATI Active Protection features going forward. I have been using Acronis software for nearly 10 years and, with all respect, I think that all of the recent protection features, antivirus scanning, web filtering, etc. do not belong in a backup software product. This is why I use a full-featured commercial PC security product.
Thanks again to the users who documented this issue.
