ATI 2020 Update 3 - The ability to rename backups tasks Important functions still missing
There is still no ability rename .tibx backup tasks.
There is still no way to move .tibx backup files.
There is now the ability to mount a tibx backup files. (Still limited to Disk and Partitions and Entire PC backups, of course).
I'm trying to see if there is any improvement in validation time, but I doubt I'll know for a few hours. (And I should have timed the test validation before upgrading.)

Just gave this a test and got the following panels show!
It first gave the 'cannot assign a drive letter' then opened the Mount wizard before repeating the cannot assign error for each partition in my .tibx backup image!
Bottom line is that .tibx files still cannot be mounted in update 3.

Interesting. I've attached a screen capture of my mounting an "Entire PC" .tibx backup. I don't show it in the capture, but after selecting a partition - the backup of my C drive - I was able to browse it.

Hmmm, the behaviour seems to be a little unpredictable! I have been able to get a couple of my .tibx backups to mount successfully, but the Mount option is not given when selecting either a Differential file, or the continuation of an Incremental backup. Clicking on the 12KB .tibx file for a chain allows it to be mounted but not on a -0001.tibx file!

I just tried where I have three files for a full backup only, keep two recent...
CDrive.tibx (12KB)
CDrive-0001.tibx (full backup)
CDrive-0002.tibx (full backup)
Only CDrive.tibx gave the context menu option to mount it, but the attempt brings up the error message.
Cannot assign a drive letter to a partition from the backup archive.
When I answer OK to the error, the Mount Wizard then appears and lists a number of backups, including some that are lo longer existing... either the backup file or the backup task.
So for the CDrive backups, it did list the two backups. Selecting the later one caused the failure message again. But selecting the earlier one was able to successfully mount it.
EDIT: And if it matters, the backup files are on a networked PC.

I'll chime in.
First attempt at Mount:
- Navigated to my primary NAS where I have a Full disk backup using Differential method.
- Selected Mount from Explorer right click menu, got a message that TI was assigning a drive letter. After about 1 minute I got a confirmation message that drive letter has been assigned. Drive letter assigned was F: This confused me for a moment as the physical drive for this backup is letter F: I opened the backup archive and found an HDD icon with drive letter F: I could fully navigate the backup.
Validation test:
- Selected this same backup task in the GUI for validation. I recently reconfigured this task so the backup contains 1 Full version file and 13 Differentials. Validation took 4 min and 35 seconds. Total size of backup is 39.3GB
- This compares to two previous backups run on this same task. The first validation was run on the backup on November 30 2019 and consisted of 1 Full and 2 Diff. and size was 39.4GB. Validation took 18 minutes a 20 seconds.
- The second validation was run on Dec. 25 2019 and consisted of 4 Fulls and 24 Diff. and size was again 39.4GB. Validation took 22 minutes and 20 seconds.
Conclusion, validation appears to have been fixed!
As a note: The backup task used in this report was setup as a test for how well a Differential task performed over time and how validation performed over time as well. The total data of the task as you can see has actually shrunk by 0.1GB over time. So this provides a true apples to apples comparison. Seeing how this task and the test run here runs over network ethernet cable I am impressed with the performance.
