ATI 2021 asking for BitLocker key after putting ATI on external usb drive

Thread solved

I'm using ATI21 in a 2TB Win11 pc with an external 2TB USB drive.

I made sure to use a clean drive and when I made my first backup I chose the option in Removable Media Settings tab to "Place Acronis True Image on media". I created the backup, shut down the pc and after 10sec I did a cold boot expecting to get the GUI that lets me recover using ATI. Instead I got the BSD with "BitLocker key required". The first time this happened the suggested fix was to disconnect any usb device. I did that, reset the pc and I got to my normal login.

I shut down the pc and did another cold boot without the usb drive attatched and I got the same BSD with same message about BitLocker except this time the fix was to go into my BIOS because the Secure Boot BIOS setting had changed! I changed it back but I still had to enter my key to get past that stupid roadblock.

So, I tried another backup session this time doing just the Restore volume which is very small and I chose the Option to "Place Acronis True Image on media (64)".

Shut pc down, cold boot, BSD BitLocker....

Any ideas? Anybody?

Thanks

Jorge, sorry but I have never heard of BitLocker being touched or changed by doing any Acronis backup and the option to 'Place Acronis True Image on media' only applies to Optical media such as DVD or CD, not to an external drives as far as I understand. There is a separate option provided for creating an Acronis Survival Kit (2GB FAT32 Partition) on an external HDD / SSD drive when creating a disk backup.
