Automate ATI "exporting backup settings"?

Thread needs solution

I too have been bitten by the MMS bug......had to reconfigure all my backups from my brain memory, so I've permanently lost some of my past backup configurations decisions. I don't want to have to go thru this again. I did not know until today that there is a "exporting backup settings" facility in ATI. Obviously, I've now created a backup zip for my settings, but it appears I have to remember to do this manually. Is there a way to schedule such a "exporting backup settings" run say on a daily basis so always have a backup of my ATI settings less than say 24 hours old?

Sandy, sorry but there are no published methods for doing what you ask here.

The only 'automatic' method of saving your backup settings is by making regular Disks & Partitions backups of your main OS drive, which then includes the C:\ProgramData\Acronis\ folders where that information is stored.

Hopefully, the MMMS issue with backup settings being reset to defaults is now fully resolved and will not come back to haunt Acronis and their users any more!  I have now re-enabled the MMMS service on my own machines and have not seen any further issues with resets. (I have exported the settings to zip files for all systems 'just in case'!).

Thanks Steve,

I just looked at the folders etc under C:\ProgramData\Acronis but I wasn't able to determine what these files are or where they are located. If it's not too much bother, could you spell out for me which files I would need to restore under C:\ProgramData\Acronis  if I were to lose my backup task definitions again?

Sandy, C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts contain the backup XML scripts for your backup tasks - you can open these files in any text editor such as Notepad to see which particular task they relate to - the task name is shown near the top of the XML data.

C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Database contains the internal SQLite database that ATI uses to track backup information but this information will be rebuilt automatically if either the folder or the files within are 'missing'.  This is often used to reset the database as described in KB 60915: Acronis True Image: repairing program settings - where steps are given to force a rebuild when needed.

C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Logs is the main folder where most (but not all) log files are stored.

There is just one area that is not contained within this folder path and that is the data for scheduled backup tasks - this would have to be manually reconfigured for each task.

Having described all of the above, exporting the settings via the option provided since ATI 2018 is still perhaps the easiest method to both backup and later re-import these settings, albeit this cannot be automated.

Do you know if using the manual method of "Backup settings transfer|Save settings to file" saves the scheduled backup task info such as what day/time the backup is to run, or what the auto-cleanup parameters have been set to?

Sandy, if you open the backup settings zip file with such as 7-Zip, you will see that it does have a file called 'scheduling.cfg' in the list of contents, so yes it should include this information along with cleanup settings etc.
