Backing up Linux-only drives

Thread needs solution

Hello,

Apologies if this has already been addressed- I looked around but didn't find any mention of this issue.

I'm having an issue with backing up a Linux-only computer running
Fedora Linux. I'm using a USB Windows boot drive, with Acronis 2020
build 38530. The computer is currently running Fedora 37.

When I perform a full disk backup, I get a warning message:

"Some partitions contained errors and can only be imaged sector-by-
sector".

When I do a sector by sector backup, the backup proceeds without
further error or warning messages and I get a .tibx backup file.

The Linux machine running Fedora contains standard ext4, squashfs and
tmps partitions (and a small vfat partition for /boot/efi). All checks
of these file systems within Linux show no errors.

I haven't had any easy way of checking these backups since the machine
is running normally without disk problems. Is this expected behavior,
and can I assume my backups are OK?

                                                   Thanks,

                                                                 Alex

Alex, welcome to these public User Forums.

There were issues with how Acronis handled EXT4 partitions in earlier versions but to my knowledge this was fixed in ATI 2020 and later versions - see forum topic here where this was discussed in some depth.

If you are able to select individual partitions for your Linux box, then try selecting them one at a time to see which actual partition is giving the error message about needing to use sector-by-sector mode?
