Backup files are corrupted error message

Thread solved

Hello everyone :)

I just went on holiday and when I got back I had a suprise my 2 backup indicate "file is corrupted error".

What do I backup ?

1 ) My system SSD drive

2) My 3.5 volume drive

Where ? On my NAS

During the holidays I had switched off my NAS.

So my guess was maybe an IP problem ?

When I looked a the NAS free space I relized there was no more space available. So I made some by deleting some old files. Now it has around 1.7Tb free space.

But my backup won't work properly and I still have this error.

What can I do now ? Do I have to delete my backup files and restart everything again or is there a way to fix this ?

I am using Acronis True Image 2020 Build 38600 and have only 2 links

"Edit connection", where I can test the connection, that is working fine but gives me this error:

More information about this error and solutions may be available online in the Acronis Knowledge Base.

I have tried to use "Validate" bit get the same error message.

Thanks in advance for your help

If when you were creating space on my NAS you deleted older *.tibx files then there is no way to recover the backup [it is essential that the small 12kb file remains]. Rather than manually deleting files you should use the Cleanup files option (this may not work if there is insufficient space on the disk where the backup is located - in that case you will need to remove one backup task and move the associated files files for one or more of the backup to another location; when you do so you will be prompted to suspend active protection to all the files to be moved).

*.tibx files are used for Disk & Partitions backups; for Files & Folders backup the older *.tib architecture is used. When you attempt to validate an *.tib backup clicking on "ignore" multiple times will usually allow the problem to be solved (this will not work if an incremental backup is missing before the last incremental backup - you will need to delete the incremental backup after the missing one).

Hope this helps

Hello Ian and thanks for your answer.

I made space deleting other type of files.

I still have this problem going on and my small file remains.

This makes me wondering should I backup this file somewhere else in normal conditions ? since it is very small could be useful maybe ?

Now what do you advise I do to fix the problem ? not sure I understood sorry english is not my first language...

The best suggestion here is to use the Delete option for the backup task on your PC, just selecting to remove the settings (after noting what the selections & options are).

Next, use the option to 'Add existing backup' which is found under the caret 'v' to the right of the normal + Add backup option, then navigate to your NAS location where the backup files are stored and select either the latest file or if present, the small 12KB .tibx file for the backup.

This will add back a task using the file name with a Reconfigure button instead of Backup now, so you now need to reselect the Source for the task, and set the Options etc.

Hello Steve,

Thanks for you help I very much appreciate !

When I click Delete I have 2 options either "Delete Entirely" or "Remove", should I choose Remove ?

I also see there is a Clone button. I tried it to access and save my settings since I could not enter to the settings anymore. Could that Clone button be a good idea ?

In my tibx folder for my 3.5 drive I have a small file and 2 large files one is 10tb and the othe 2tb they are labeled DNEW (D)-0004.tibx and  DNEW (D)-0005.tibx and date from June 15th.

On my System SSD Drive I have 1 info file and 4 big files 004 005 006 007 (June 15  July 3rd July 27 (2 times))

B.

Delete Entirely means you will delete the backup task and all backup files associated with it.  Remove simply removes the task which will allow you to do what Steve is suggesting which I agree with.

I selected Remove then Add an Existing backup

I selected the small 12KB file and had this message:

When you look at the folder holding your backup files, do they all have the same stem name and were they all created by the same backup task?

Corruption can occur if you use the same backup folder for multiple tasks unless you are very careful to use unique different names for each task.

Don't know what happened really I didn't use the same folder for any other task. I decided to give up and create a new task from scratch.

Thanks very much for your help.

Very odd that this could happen maybe it was because my disk got full.
