Backups made with old version

Thread needs solution

Hi everyone

Lately I've started to review old backups made by various co-workers for the past several years. Most of them opens swiftly, but some don't, with error message "backup is corrupted". Maybe it is corrupted indeed, but my guess is that it was created by some very old version of Acronis True Image. Is there any method to check, what version of True Image was used to create .tib file ?

Thanks in advance !

Dmitry, welcome to these public User Forums.

Sorry but there is no obvious method of identifying the version of ATI that was used to create older backup .tib files other than looking at the creation date and ruling out any versions that came later than that date.

If the .tib file can be explored and is a disk backup of the OS, then it may be possible to look at the properties of the trueimage.exe program in the Program Files (x86) folder.

Most versions of ATI are backwards compatible with files created by earlier versions as documented in the compatibility KB document in my signature links but if are reported as being corrupt, then using the rescue media from the older version can sometimes work!
