Simon, welcome to these public User Forums.

As far as I understand, you cannot download an image from the Acronis Cloud in the sense of downloading a .tib or .tibx file.

You can perform a disk recovery from the Acronis Cloud when booting from the rescue media provided you have a good internet connection that you can download over.

You can also download zipped files from the Cloud using the Online Dashboard option in the ATI GUI Account page.

See the ATI 2020 User Guide: Recovery from Acronis Cloud for more detailed information.

I am a beginner!

First question re. the survival kit. It is used to boot up the computer to retrieve an image from the Cloud AND/OR to retrieve an image from a hard disk ie do I also neeed a bootable DVD or is the Survival Kit sufficient? Can I copy the Survival kit onto a DVD?

Second question

I do not manage to get to the survival kit. I thought I had but there is no trace of it on theb external HD where I did the image. Cous you please give me the step by step instructions to find the survival kit.

Thanks in advance, Alain

Alain, please keep questions for this topic here in the forum rather than by sending PM's - this will give you access to a wider group of users & MVP's to provide answers for you.

A Survival Kit is simply a bootable 2GB FAT32 partition on a larger external USB backup drive that you can use for both backup and recovery operations without the need to boot from separate rescue media.

As such, the survival kit can also be used to recover from the Acronis Cloud providing you have an internet connection to allow this.  Note: it is recommended to use a wired network connection as wireless support in any of the Acronis rescue media is very limited or non-existent!

You do not need a bootable DVD with the survival kit.  You cannot copy this to a DVD but you can use the normal Acronis Rescue Media Builder tool from the ATI GUI to create a bootable DVD if needed.

The option to create a Survival Kit is only offered when you are creating a new Disks & Partitions (or Entire PC) type backup task and are setting the Destination for the task to a suitable external USB drive that can be used for this purpose.
