Can ATI Rescue Media co-exist on same USB drive with toolkit?

Thread solved

I understand that ATI must format the rescue media to make it bootable and install the neccessary files for recovery. My question is:

1) Once it's done that is there any reason why you could not create an additional folder on the same media to store other useful software like my standard diagnostic and repair tools etc?

2) Could a backup image be stored on the same media and would ATI be able find and restore it to the PC?

Timothy, welcome to these public User Forums.

Take a look at the MVP Custom PE Builder tool (link in my signature) which is designed to allow inclusion of other tools that you can add to the Windows PE rescue media, and comes with a desktop, file manager, web browser and other tools as default.

The rescue media needs to use a FAT32 partition to be bootable, which then imposes a file size limit of max 4GB size files, so best to keep this as a separate partition and have a second partition using NTFS for storing backup files.  This is essentially how the Acronis Survival Kit is used, where a 2GB FAT32 partition is used for rescue media / boot, and the remainder of the disk drive is used for backup.

You can combine both of the above factors by using a partition manager tool to create your own small FAT32 partition on an external USB HDD, give this a drive letter then use that drive letter with the MVP Custom PE Builder tool to create the rescue media in that FAT32 partition.  You can also use the Acronis Media Builder tool to do the same, but do not get the extras!
