Cannot uninstall Acronis True image

Thread needs solution

Tried uninstalling Acronis True Image via the standard uninstaller, but stalled for hours.  Tried to cancel, which also stalled.

Attempted to close and run Acronis Clean Up Utility 2.0, but this also stalled indefinitely on "Removing Drivers..."

How can I proceed?  Can I uninstall manually somehow?

Seung Nam, welcome to these public User Forums.

What version of Acronis True Image did you have installed?  Was it ATI 2020 as per this forum?

The first recommendation is to do a full restart of Windows to clear any pending actions, then retry the normal uninstaller via the Control Panel > Programs & Features option.

If that still fails, then you need to change all the Acronis Services from Automatic startup to be Disabled, so that they are not started after booting Windows.

See KB 63256: Acronis True Image 2020: Windows services and processes for details of all the Services to be changed.

Restart the PC again and check that the Acronis Services are not Running.

At this point, you could either retry the Acronis Cleanup Tool (link in my signature) or else start doing a manual delete of the following folders etc.

Acronis folders.
C:\ProgramData\Acronis
C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Acronis
C:\Program Files\Acronis
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Acronis
C:\Users\[name]\AppData\Local\Acronis
C:\Users\[name]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ProgramData\Acronis\
C:\Users\[name]\AppData\Roaming\Acronis

HKCU\Software\Acronis
HKLM\Software\Acronis
HKCU\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Acronis
HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Acronis
Left over .sys and .dll files at C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows\System32\Drivers.
Look for files starting with snap that may have a number in them.
Something like snapxxxx.dll or snapxxxx.sys.
Where xxxx would represent a build number of True Image.

Please take great care if deleting items from the Windows Registry and make a backup of the Registry or the parts being touched.  Making a System Restore point would be a good idea!

Note: After deleting all the Acronis folders, restart the PC then try running a registry cleaner such as CCleaner and let this find any associated Registry entries and remove them safely instead of doing this manually!
