Can't add more folder to existing NonStop Backup

Thread needs solution

I have a NonStop Backup routine running. I tried to insert one additional folder structure to it. When I confirm, I get:

"Cannot open storage

More information about this error and solutions may be available online in the Acronis Knowledge Base.
To access the online resource manually, enter the event code at: https://kb.acronis.com/errorcode/
Event code: 0x00640160+0x00E40006+0x00040007"

And as with virtually all Acronis errors, there is no documentation to explain it.
I already deleted the previous NSB routine and created a new one.
But the same problem occurs: I can't insert new folders (even pausing NSB)

The documentation for non-stop backup is extremely poor. This can be unfortunate when something does not work as expected. For example apparently you cannot import settings for non-stop backup from saved settings. This can be a real pain when you need to uninstall ATI and run the cleanup utility (this approach was recommended when moving from beta to production versions of ATI). You also cannot manually import such a backup (attempting to do so may have unpredictable results).

My suspicion is that you cannot edit the task. I will check to see if I can do so and report back.

I just tried to change the source and got the same error message you got. Tried suspending the backup and still got the error message. This may well be the way it is intended to work.

There is a possible work-around. Pause the non-stop backup. The temporarily suspend Acronis Malware protection; copy the backup files (they are in an oddly named folder TimeExplorerStorage). Next, after having reactivated Malware Protection, Then select the backup task and right click and select delete. What follows is unusual, rather than being given the choice of just deleting the backup task or deleting the backup task and the associated files, you are just given the delete option. It may be that you can remove the task without deleting the files but the information given is confusing to say the least. That is why I suggested copying the backup files first

Next configure the new backup with the added folder.

You can access the old backup task by navigating to the save copy of the backup task, selecting the *.tib file and double clicking. Do not right click and select validate as you will get an error message (at least I do with my old damaged nonstop backup files).

Thanks for the effort in trying a workaround.
NBS is still very limited.
I noticed that if I want to add a folder to the current NSB, the quickest solution would be to delete the current NSB and create a new one, as I already did.
The problem is NSB does not have the option to export to current settings.
I use NSB for strategic folders (projects in which I work constantly and which are subject to possible problems). However, I have a huge exclusion list of file extensions that are inside these folders but which are unnecessary for entering NSB, thus saving a lot of disk space.
However, when deleting NSB, its exclusion list is lost and I have no way to recover it.
That is sad.

If you have a backup of C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts and can identify the .tib.tis script XML file for your old NSB task, then you may be able to copy & paste the relevent exclusions from the old to new .tib.tis file.  If attempting this, then ATI should not be active and AAP should be turned off to allow the file to be edited.

Hello Everyone,

I've also reproduced the issue and passed to the RnD for investigation (internal ID for reference TI-181441)

Thanks Ekaterina, good to know that this should not be happening.
