Stanislav, welcome to these public User Forums.

Quick check point: Are you seeing an F11 prompt on boot for the ASRM?

If yes, was this enabled on ATI 2020 or on an earlier version of ATI?

How are you trying to deactivate ASRM here?  Is this from within the ATI GUI > Tools page?

If this is not working, then please create the Acronis Rescue Media then boot your computer using that media and use the option in the standalone application to deactivate ASRM.

Note: Please boot the rescue media using the same BIOS boot mode as is used by your Windows OS - probably UEFI given the references in the error messages?

See KB 59877: Acronis True Image: how to distinguish between UEFI and Legacy BIOS boot modes of Acronis Bootable Media

Please also ensure that you have the latest build 22510 version of ATI 2020 installed, not the older 21400 build mentioned in the error messages!

Hello Steve,

Thank you for detailed reply.

  1. I don't see any F11 prompt on boot for the ASRM.
  2. ASRM was not enabled at all.
    • I installed ATI 2020 and tried to run Try&dDecide. When I press the button "Click to start" the message appears: "Try&dDecide and Acronis Startup Recovery Manager cannot work simultaneously. You should deactivate Acronis Startup Recovery Manager first"
  3. I tried to deactivate ASRM by this way ATI GUI > All Tools > Acronis Startup Recovery Manager, but the error appears, which I mentioned in my first post. [screen: ati2020]
  4. My OS Windows 10 Pro UEFI. I created the Acronis Rescue Media, loaded in EFI and tried to deactivate ASRM, but around the same error appears.
    • I have the Acronis Rescue Media from ATI 2016. I tried to deactivate ASRM by the same method and it shows, that ASRM is not activated and proposed me to activate it. I did not choose nothing. [screen: ati2016]
  5. The same problem I have in the build 22510 [screen: ati2020]

It could be that ASRM was activated on your computer at an earlier time with a prior version of ATI.  You could try temporarily disabling UEFI boot on your computer then, boot the Recovery Media in Legacy BIOS mode to attempt deactivation.  If that works then do not forget to re-enable UEFI prior to attempting to boot back into Windows again or you will get errors such as boot device not found, etc.

I tried to deactivate ASRM in different BIOS modes:

  1. UEFI Native:
    • Boot from the Acronis Rescue Media in UEFI > ASRM is enabled by default and cannot be deactivated, the error appears.
  2. Legacy BIOS:
    • Boot from the Acronis Rescue Media in legacy BIOS > ASRM is disabled by default
  3. UEFI Hybrid:
    • Boot from the Acronis Rescue Media in legacy BIOS > ASRM is disabled by default
    • I activated ASRM and deactivated it:
      • if do not switch to UEFI Native, then ASRM will be deactivated in Windows and I could use Try&dDecide tool.
        • In UEFI Hybrid boot time is 14.7 sec instead of 2.4 sec in UEFI Native
      • if switch back to UEFI Native, then the behavior will be the same like in my first post.

Conclusion:

Seems, that ATI 2020 has some problems with OS in UEFI Native mode...

Did you upgrade from TI 2016 to 2020?  If you did then this issue may be tied to that.  TI version prior to 2018 need to be uninstalled prior to upgrading to 2020.

I suppose it is possible that you have a conflict between ASRM and TnD.  If this is the case Acronis Support will need to get involved.

If you are certain that ASRM has never been used on your system then I would suspect the conflict mentioned above.  If ASRM was activated on your system while using UEFI boot mode then ASRM simply becomes a boot variable written to the EFI partition.  You might have a look at EasyUEFI management tool by Hasleo.  It can remove leftover boot entries and should be able to remove the ASRM boot manager entry.  Link provided below:

EasyUEFI

In October 2019 I installed Windows 10 Pro 1903 UEFI (clean install). At the same time I installed ATI 2020 (clean install).

I did not activate any tools and etc, so ASRM was activated automatically and I never used it before.

I have taken a look at EFI partitions via EasyUEFI. I have only one partition - Windows Boot Manager. [attached screen]

Thanks for the link.

ASRM is never activated automatically and never has been to my knowledge, so perhaps the real question here is whether the message you saw was simply stating a fact, i.e. that ASRM and TnD are mutually exclusive, or whether it was saying that it encountered ASRM as being activated?  I tend towards the former of these, not the latter.

I concur with Steve here given your reply.

Thank you for your tips!

It's very strange situation, that ASRM is activated, if I did not activate it...

I will delete all partitions and install Windows 10 Pro 1909 UEFI + ATI 2020 once again.

After that I will check ASRM.

If it will be activated, this will mean that it activated independently, just after installation of ATI 2020.

Maybe I'll check the same scenario with ATI 2016.

P.S.

Happy New Year!

Before you delete all partitions and reinstall Windows, try this first. You have nothing to loose. Go to the TI GUI and select activate ARSM. If it activates successfully, then go back to the TI GUI and select deactivate ARSM. Maybe that will clear the problem.

Hi all,

I apologize for the long reply.

Finally I installed clean Windows 10 (version 2004, UEFI Native, No secure boot) + ATI 2020 (version 24.6.25700).

The problem does not recur, ARSM is in deactivated state by default and I can use Try&Decide without any problems.
