Can't load .tibx full backup. Failed to add the backup to the backup list.
Can't load .tibx full backup. Failed to add the backup to the backup list. It did load once but finished with errors. Wouldn't load after that. Is there a way to get around this? If not in ATI, how about something to extract the data from the backup? Thanks.

Hi Steve, I'm using 2020 and win 10. This is a full backup on an external drive. The problem began when I tried to install Huion drawing board software. I can't remember all the details, but I wound up in windows recovery mode. I f-disked and reinstalled Win 10. Problem was still there. Kept getting the "Failed to" message in ATI. This backup has everything that I need on it. I need to recover the data. Thanks

Joe, how are you trying to do the recovery here?
Have you created the Acronis bootable rescue media and are using this?
If you are trying to recover Windows 10 from within the running Windows, then this will always require a reboot and this will be into a temporary Linux based environment which has known limitations! You should be using the 'Simple' WinPE version of the rescue media for this type of recovery (see links below).
A further question is what BIOS boot mode does your PC use to boot into Windows 10? Is this a UEFI boot system, or is it an older Legacy boot one? If Windows is working (after reinstalling) then run the command msinfo32 and check the BIOS mode value in the right panel of the report this creates.

I have the rescue media and have tried restoring through it. Right now I basically have win 10 and ATI 2020 on the laptop. The bios is set for uefi. I think the .tibx file may be corrupted because I tried to mount it on another laptop in ATI 2020 with no success

Hi Steve,
I booted with the simple WinPe. It said the file is corrupted.

Joe, what is the name of the .tibx and was it created as an incremental or differential backup scheme file? In particular, was there a small 12KB size .tibx file as part of the same backup scheme and if so, is that file still present? The 12KB file contains metadata required for the other .tibx files to be considered valid and not corrupt.

In the doctor's waiting room right now so I don’t have the name, but it was a full backup. Never saw a 12kb file

Joe, hope the visit to the doctor goes well!
Was your full backup of a disk drive / and partitions of same?
Was it a one-off full backup or one of a series of backups?

Visit went well, thanks. It was a backup of 2 drives and their partitions

Joe, out of interest have you tried to open & explore the contents of the .tibx file within Windows by double-clicking on it in Explorer? Does it open or throw an error?

Joe, not looking promising unfortunately!
One final sanity check here: this backup was created by ATI 2020 as a .tibx and not by an earlier version as a .tib file???
Do you have any other backup files you could try using?

Unless a corrupted file can be repaired, I guess I'm out of luck. Thanks for your help, Steve. Happy New Year
