Cloning question

Thread needs solution

I have to re-clone a SSD that ATI cloned from system HHD with success but would it not boot and went into repair stage but the repair repeatedly failed. Shortly after a change back to HHD booted up and then hooked up the SSD and it will not even show up. It will show if I use an adapter to use USB port but not when it's internally installed. What I need to know is if I can cloned this SSD drive again through the USB port and maybe doing the clone again it will be bootable. Does ATI let you clone to an USB attache'd drive?

DeWayne, your cloned SSD may not be showing up because it has been cloned which in turn gives it an identical disk signature to your HDD drive and would cause a signature collision is allowed.

The usual way of cloning from a HDD to an SSD is either to connect the SSD via USB using an adapter, or else to replace the HDD by the SSD then clone from the HDD connected via USB using the Acronis Rescue Media to boot the computer.

I would recommend wiping the SSD before attempting a new clone to it - this can be done via Windows Disk Management if the SSD is connected via USB.

Please see KB 56634: Acronis True Image: how to clone a disk - and follow the step by step guide given there.
