Cloud backup and Local backup schedule tasks

Thread needs solution

hello,

I am looking into ATI2020 for Mac and i have some questions if you can help.

Do you know if two or more backup tasks can run at the same time via ATI2020? one local and one on cloud

The Setup:

A. a folder with archived work that i want to back up on Acronis Cloud (400GB) that i will put on schedule backup every 24hrs.

B. a folder with active projects that i want to back up on Acronis Cloud (10GB) that i will put on schedule backup every 2 hrs.

C. The exact same folders from A & B that i am backing up on external HDD every 2 hours or so

Lets say that the backup A on Acronis Cloud will take 1 week (i don't know how long it will take just putting a timeframe for reference) what is going to happen with the backups B and C that are scheduled?

To sum up with the question. Do i need to wait for Acronis to upload the 400GB of data on Acronis Cloud in order for the other tasks B & C to start?

thank you

Antonis, welcome to these public User Forums.

I am not an Acronis for Mac user but your questions would apply equally to the Acronis for Windows product, so have the same answers.

First, only one Acronis backup task can be active at any time, so you cannot have two such tasks both active together.

The time needed to upload your 400GB of data to the Acronis Cloud really depends on the upload speed you have from your Internet provider.  Upload speeds are often much less that the speed given for downloads.

You can use the webpage:  Upload time calculator - Calculate Upload time/speed to get an indication of how long 400GB would take at your upload speed but should allow for the fact that any upload will not necessarily be at a constant speed throughout, and also that compression will be applied to your data which can affect the size being uploaded.

One important point about backups to the Acronis Cloud is that the full data is only uploaded once at the start of the backup task, after which only changed data will be uploaded.  This is different to backups to local destinations where backup chains are used, i.e. a new full backup file is created after a set number of incremental or differential backup files.

If your two sets of backup data are not changing greatly inbetween scheduled backups, then once the initial full backup for each task is completed, the subsequent backups should be much faster.
