Creating a backup for C and D drive

Thread needs solution

I want to create a backup for my new pc which is running Windows 10.   It has 2 drives.  The OS is on the C Drive and most but not all of the data is on the D drive.  When I start out to create the back up I see a screen that says "Desktop - KO7H....."  and it asks me to select the destination.  It says there are 236.2 GB of data selected which seems to be the sum of the used space on the C and D drive.

Do I need to do anything special to deal with the 2 drives or will it just back up both drives?

When I was using Acronis 2015 I had it set up to do incremental backup 3 days a week.  Does that sound like a reasonable backup strategy?

I am backing up to a 2 TB USB drive.

I would appreciate any feedback on how to proceed with my backup.

Thanks

Stephen, the default backup option in later versions of ATI such as 2020 is for 'Entire PC' which will include your 2 internal disk drives, and if you do not modify the backup task Options settings, then it will also default to doing a daily incremental backup with 5 backups then a new Full backup, but with no automatic cleanup options enabled, which will eventually fill up your 2TB USB backup drive.

I would recommend clicking on Options for the new backup task and setting the Schedule to how you want it to run, then check the Backup scheme page and enable automatic cleanup.

Personally, I would recommend using the 'Store no more than X recent version chains' for automatic cleanup, as this is the easiest to understand.  With this setting, you need to set X to a value that will still leave enough free space on your destination drive to store at least one further full backup file, as this is how ATI works!  Nothing gets deleted by automatic cleanup until after a new Full backup is created successfully
