Creating a Backup Causes W10 System Restore Points To Be Deleted.
I have 2 backup schemes both for C drive OS...one is incremental and the other a full custom backup. Under the Exclusions tab I do not exclude anything. I do not mind if this means my Backups are larger in size as I have plenty of storage space on my Backup drive.
Whenever the backup process has completed I notice all my Windows System Restore Points get deleted. I have tested this multiple times creating test restore points just before doing the Backup. Then immediately after Backup process has completed they are deleted.
To ensure the survival of my C drive OS I clone it, do Acronis Backups as well as make regular system restore points just of C drive. Loss of restore points removes one of my 3 processes.
As a work a round I make a System Restore Point immediately after doing anything Acronis such as Backup.
Any insight into this would be appreciated...Gary
At Acronis KB article 62304 it is indicated this is not caused by ATI2020. However I beg to differ due to the consistency of the problem as tested by myself as explained above.

Gary,
As Steve rightly points out the issue is caused by Windows itself. The use of VSS for backup which is a Windows feature may contribute to this occurrence. Using the Acronis Snapshot option under the Advanced tab of Backup Options may well provide a workaround.

Thanks Steve & Enchantech. I tried using the Acronis Snapshot option under the Advanced tab of Backup Options and it did result in my System Restore Points not being deleted. However I noticed the backup takes much more time to complete. Why?
Both my full and incremental Backup of C drive validated successfully with the Acronis Snapshot option enabled.
Also can you tell me does this using the Acronis Snapshot option result in a less reliable backup should Recovery every need to be done?
Thanks...GAry

Gary, under the System Protection settings what is the max usage on your drive for protection? Perhaps it is too low.
