Deactivate Active Protection complete

Thread needs solution

I'm using Acronis2020 True Image and the 'Active Protection' really drives me mad.

First, i get notifications all the days ( ...is turned off...is turned on...is turned off....and so on all day).

Second, i guess it interferes with my branch software.

So i'm clicking the turn-off-button..... after 10 Secs it re-activates itself again.

And after every restart, it's turned on again. No possibility to turn it off complete without restarting after a minute.

So this really feels like bloatware.

Can you please stop that nannying and let me turn off that damn sh*t ???

Anyway, Acronis seems to get utterly worse with this new versions. They are epical slow, often the backup is a 137%...and wont finish ever ever....program doesnt even respond any more to interactions.

On top of that, i think Acronis is stealing out of responsibility by not rendering support. You took my money for that software...and it even does not work properly.

Pierre, welcome to these public User Forums.

ATI 2020 went out of support around September 2020, one month after ATI 2021 was released publicly to the world!

The behaviour that you describe is not normal and with ATI 2020 you should be fully able to turn off Acronis Active Protection and for it to stay turned off!

I would suggest confirming that you have the final build version of ATI 2020 #38530 and if not, then to upgrade to that build which should be offered via the main Account page of the ATI GUI.

See KB 60915: Acronis True Image: repairing program settings - for options on doing a Repair Install which you can also use the #38530 installer to do this.

The performance issues with ATI 2020 are exacerbated if you include validation with the backup activity - this because Acronis will validate all files created by the task which results in a very much slower operation!  They have fixed this in ATI 2021 by providing new options for Validation but if you are unhappy with AAP in 2020, then I would not recommend upgrading to 2021 which has even more 'Protection' features which continue to run in the background even when fully turned off, plus Acronis have decided to stop selling Perpetual license version of ATI, making it into a Subscription only product!
