Deleting Older Backups

Thread needs solution

I have True Image set to keep no more than five recent backups. It should delete the oldest one when the sixth is created. It worked fine with True Image 2019, but is NOT doing the cleanup and deleting the oldest backup with True Image 2020. As a result, the target drive gets full and the backup does not run, unless I manually delete the oldest backup myself. Any idea why it worked fine with 2019 but not 2020?

Michael, this should still be working correctly with ATI 2020 as it did with ATI 2019 but without being able to see the log for your backup task, impossible to say why it isn't doing so?

Please download the MVP Log Viewer tool (link in my signature below) and use this to review the log file for your backup operation. This should provide more information on what is happening / not happening here?

When you say you are manually deleting the oldest backup, how are you doing this?
You should not be using Explorer to delete any backup files as this will leave information still in the Acronis internal database about the deleted files and cause errors later!

You should be using the 'Clean up versions' option for your Backup task to delete unwanted files, this will automatically update the database too.
